Hege Lønne - Retrospective
Trondheim kunstmuseum, Bispegata
25 March - 14 August 2022
Curator: Marianne Zamecznik
This retrospective exhibition of Hege Lønne, organized by Trondheim kunstmuseum in collaboration with Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, is the first full-scale presentation of the artist’s work in Norway.
Hege Lønne (b. 1961, Trondheim – d. 2018, Warsaw) studied at the art academy in Trondheim from 1979–84. After graduating, Lønne moved to Warsaw to attend a post-graduate training program at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts where she enrolled in the Sculpture Department under the auspices of the highly respected Polish artists Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz and Grzegorz Kowalski.
Lønne was artistically connected with Poland from the 1980s onward and through the 1990s, as well as with artists from other Eastern European countries, mainly from Lithuania and Belarus. Her art combined experiences from her exchanges with Eastern European artistic communities with the Scandinavian traditions of her Norwegian heritage. This double belonging played an important role, both for her art and her personal life.
Hege Lønne – Retrospective is organised by Trondheim kunstmuseum in collaboration with Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw. The curator for the exhibition at Trondheim kunstmuseum is Marianne Zamecznik, and the curators for the exhibition at Zacheta are Michał Jachuła and Maria Rubersz.
